Perth Mint’s Record Year: Revenue Isn’t Coin Demand

The Mint reports A$44.23 billion in annual revenue. Here’s how to read that headline without turning it into a claim about your coins.

The headline, with the currency attached

Gold Corporation, which trades as The Perth Mint, announced its 2025–26 results on September 17. It reports revenue of A$44.23 billion and describes revenue and profit before tax as records. The Mint’s news hub separately identifies the turnover figure as Australian dollars—not US dollars.

Keep the dates separate: September 17 is the announcement date; 2025–26 is the reporting period. This is an issuer-reported result, not an independent assessment by NumisTrends.

Revenue is a different question from profit

Revenue measures the value a business records from its reported activity. Profit measures what remains after the relevant expenses. A large revenue figure is not the amount left over, and neither figure is a count of collectible coins.

Consider a deliberately fictional example: a seller moves ten identical items at $100 each, then ten at $120 each. Revenue rises from $1,000 to $1,200 even though the item count stays at ten. That is an illustration of the arithmetic—not an explanation of the Mint’s result. Without the appropriate breakdown, a revenue total cannot tell us how prices, quantities and product mix each contributed.

Don’t turn a company result into a rarity claim

“Record year” and “rare coin” answer different questions. A company-wide total does not tell you how many examples of your exact year, weight, finish or packaging were produced. It also does not reveal how many are available to buy today.

Likewise, a producer’s annual result is not a measurement of every collector’s appetite. Keep the scale of the evidence matched to the scale of the claim: business results for the business, issue-level records for the coin.

A useful collector note takes four lines

Before forwarding a financial headline or using it in a listing, save the details that let someone else check it:

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE
  • Source and date: the original announcement, not a cropped social screenshot.
  • Measure and currency: revenue, profit, ounces or units—with the currency written out.
  • Period and scope: what time span and activity the number covers.
  • The unanswered question: which exact product record or current sales evidence you still need.

Keep your next step coin-specific

If the headline sends you back to a coin in your collection, start with identification and condition. Then check the precise issue’s production information and comparable completed sales. Treat present availability as a separate, time-sensitive question.

The takeaway is not a forecast or a reason to buy. It is a reading habit: a big number becomes useful only when you keep its label attached.

COLLECTOR FAQ

Questions worth asking

Does record revenue mean more collector coins were sold?+

Not by itself. You would need an appropriate product-level quantity comparison; revenue alone cannot supply one.

Does this announcement tell me what my Perth Mint coin is worth?+

No. Identify the exact issue and condition, then examine relevant completed sales. An issuer’s annual business result is not a valuation of your coin.
